Frequent questions about our React Admin Dashboard timeline deserve a comprehensive update. We've reached beta status with significant progress: 90% reduction in development time, full feature parity with Angular plus extensive new capabilities, and production-ready architecture validated through real-world implementations. Here's where we stand and what's coming next.
Vendure React Admin Dashboard launching August 2025

We've reached feature parity

Our React Admin Dashboard has now achieved feature parity with the existing Angular version across virtually all areas. But we didn't stop there. The new dashboard introduces extensive new features, expanded APIs, and customization options that simply weren't possible before.

Thanks to our community and implementations across Elevantiq projects and our own plugin marketplace, we've battle-tested the dashboard in real-world scenarios. This collaborative approach has been invaluable for identifying and resolving edge cases, particularly around monorepo setups where configuration and plugin entry files can be tricky to locate.

The result? A beta release that's already proving itself in production environments.

Development time reduced by 90%

Building custom detail and list pages for entities that previously took 3 hours for experienced Vendure developers now takes approximately 15 minutes.

Here's the number that gets developers excited: building custom detail and list pages for entities that previously took 3 hours for experienced Vendure developers now takes approximately 15 minutes.

This dramatic improvement comes from our fundamentally reimagined architecture. We've built a suite of custom Vite plugins that automatically read configuration from plugins and Vendure config. All of these are bundled together in one single Vendure dashboard Vite plugin where all configuration can be passed through a central point.

Combined with our extensive set of fully typed extension entrypoints, developers get comprehensive IntelliSense support and type safety throughout the customization process. Even developers who aren't React experts are seeing massive velocity increases.

AI-friendly development patterns

The new architecture isn't just faster - it's designed for the age of AI-assisted development. The structured approach to customization works seamlessly with AI coding assistants, multiplying developer productivity even further.

Example: With tools like Cursor or Claude Code, developers can implement customizations at unprecedented speed. The combination of our improved architecture and AI assistance creates a development experience that sets a new standard for admin interface customization.

Migration strategy: pragmatic, not automatic

We made a deliberate decision not to provide migration scripts or codemods. The Angular and React dashboards are built on completely different architectural principles, making automatic migration nearly impossible without compromising the benefits of the new system.

Instead, we're taking an AI-assisted approach. We've developed comprehensive markdown documentation specifically designed for AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code. Internal testing shows these AI-powered migrations complete faster and with higher quality than traditional automated scripts would achieve.

Plus, you can run both systems in parallel. This means you can phase the migration for your admin users, reducing operational risk and providing flexibility in rollout timing.

Release timeline: clear milestones ahead

Dashboard RC.1 - This Week (Latest August 1, 2025)

Shipping with Vendure v3.4.0, RC.1 establishes our stable API foundation. This means no more breaking API changes - developers can confidently build on these interfaces.

RC.1 includes:

  • Stable API contracts
  • Extensive in-code documentation
  • Initial getting started guides for early adoption
  • Extension migration documentation

Dashboard v1 - End of August 2025

The production-ready release accompanies Vendure v3.5.0 with comprehensive bug fixes identified during the RC.1 phase.

v1 delivers a complete documentation ecosystem:

  • How-to guides and recipes for common customization scenarios
  • Video tutorial series covering setup through advanced implementations
  • Interactive Storybook component library for exploring available UI components
  • Full TypeScript API documentation with detailed extension points
  • Monorepo setup guides for typical enterprise project structures

The dashboard plugin will also be available, allowing developers to serve the compiled dashboard through the Vendure server, similar to the current Admin UI plugin.

Global Search: Spotlight for Vendure

One standout feature arriving with v1 is Global Search - essentially Spotlight search for your entire Vendure installation. This powerful interface indexes all entities (including custom ones), marketplace plugins, documentation, and quick actions.

Administrators get instant access to any system component with contextual actions and cross-referencing across the entire Vendure ecosystem.

Setting a new benchmark

We believe the React Admin Dashboard represents a significant leap forward for Vendure's extensibility story. The combination of dramatically improved developer experience, enhanced capabilities, and AI-friendly architecture positions teams to build more sophisticated commerce solutions faster than ever before.

The two-phase release approach - RC.1 this week followed by stable v1 at month-end - gives teams time to prepare while ensuring production readiness. Early feedback from RC.1 will inform final refinements for the stable release.

Bottom line: If you've been waiting for the right time to start planning your migration to the React dashboard, that time is now. RC.1 gives you stable APIs to build on, and v1 will provide everything you need for a smooth transition.
